WHAT WE ARE
We are a unique membership organization that has thrived for over 300 years. Having no political or religious affiliations, we include members of all ages, races, religions, cultures and backgrounds. We meet in our individual lodges across the country where we have ceremonial traditions that encourage us both to be more tolerant and respectful and to actively fulfill our civic and charitable responsibilities; we also take time to eat, drink and meet, and form lifelong friendships.
OUR PURPOSE
To attract those from all backgrounds and walks of life, enabling them to develop into more caring and confident individuals, to inspire and challenge them to practice the core values we celebrate - Integrity, Friendship, Respect, Service - in their private and public lives. To cement our reputation as a force for good in our communities and society at large and as a thriving organization that people aspire to join.
OUR VALUES
Our core values are the principles that underpin who we are, what we stand for, and what we do. They are vital to understanding Freemasonry.
INTEGRITY
Honesty, trustworthiness, honor, dependability, and conscientiousness are the foundation of good character. They foster trust, maintain integrity, and demonstrate commitment, ultimately leading to a life of strong principles and reliable actions.
FRIENDSHIP
Freemasonry offers members many opportunities to create a large circle of lifelong friends who share common interests and values. It provides a bond of friendship and a sense of belonging. This promotes a feeling of pleasure and accomplishment.
RESPECT
Since its earliest days, Freemasonry has respected the beliefs of its members. It fosters an environment where diversity is valued. It is a space where different beliefs and backgrounds converge, fostering an atmosphere of inclusiveness, tolerance, and harmony.
SERVICE
Whether it is attending events, raising money for a charitable cause, or volunteering for public or community organizations, service is at the heart of Freemasonry. Our members make valuable contributions by donating their time, resources, and skills.
THE INITIATORY ORDER
The social aspect described above does not exhaust the purposes of our institution. It is in fact an initiatory Order: to be admitted one goes through a ceremony called "Initiation" and over time one can progress one's position within the lodge.
Initiation introduces the profane to the sacred context of the Lodge and changes something in him forever, in the hope that these seeds can germinate and improve the inner state of each one.
